STORY
We chose Crested Butte because we wanted a life built around adventure, community, & prioritizing the things that matter.
Two years in, when the opportunity arose to buy local distilling equipment & start making spirits, it didn't feel that crazy. We'd already made the big leap.
We spent years learning how to make a really good drink — first at home, then behind the bar. When we started distilling, we brought that same approach: start with the cocktail you want to create, then build the spirit to get you there. Cocktail-first means we're thinking about your glass from the moment we fire up the still.
We're Katie and Tim, & Anthracite Spirits is our two-person operation here in the heart of the Rockies. Every bottle is distilled, filled, and labeled by hand. Every recipe starts with a vision for how it should pour. & every spirit we make is designed to work with your cocktail— whether you're shaking up a classic or trying something new.

We didn't pick our tagline lightly. Around here, exploration looks like endless single-track trail time, seeking new lines through the aspens, & chasing down every back road the valley has to offer. It also means we're never quite done tinkering in the distillery.
We're constantly testing new flavor profiles, pushing our spirits & liqueurs in unexpected directions, & developing limited releases that celebrate what's happening in the mountains — whether that's aspen season, wildflower bloom, or just an idea we can't shake. Our core lineup is built for versatility, but the specialty releases? Those are where we go off-trail.
You'll find our core spirits at bars, restaurants, and liquor stores around Colorado. Limited releases and seasonal experiments are available at the distillery, at select events throughout the state, and soon through online sales.
